Young Equestrian Journalist Competition

Calling all young equestrian journalists. Do you dream of interviewing eventing legends such as William Fox-Pitt and Andrew Nicholson? Can you capture the action and excitement of three day eventing down the barrel of a lens? Or conjure excitement for eventing with words alone? Well this is the competition for you.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials are on the hunt for the best young equine journalists to join the media team at the three-day-event.

This year’s competition has been split into three categories, with an all-star line-up of judges to review and decide this year’s winners.

The winner of each category will be invited to Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials to gain work experience shadowing eventing’s finest journalists. They will also get the chance to showcase their work on the big screens and will be tasked with an on-event assignment at Burghley on Thursday 30th August 2018.

The competition which opens on 4th July 2018 is open to young people aged 21 years and under, based in the UK and will include three disciplines:

  • Writer – You are challenged with writing a 250–400 word report from an equestrian event you have attended, or an interview with an event rider.
  • Broadcaster – You are tasked with presenting an introduction to an equestrian event, or recording an interview with a rider.
  • Photographer – Capture the excitement of eventing through the eyes of a camera and deliver to your subjects what you feel is at the heart of one of the phases of three-day eventing (dressage, cross country or show jumping).

To take part in the competition please submit your entry and fill out all of the below information fields.
Entry deadline extended until 8am Friday 10th August 2018.

This competition has now closed – the three winners will be notified on 17 August.
