In the latest of the 2016 Land Rover Burghley Podcasts we sum up all the exciting action from cross country day, we take a trip down memory lane back to 1966 and the World Championships and we find out more about The Brooke Burghley Bake Off!
Former Great British Bake Off contestant Ugne Bunbaityte was delighted to judge the Brooke Charity Carrot Cake Competition here at Burghley. Bunbaityte is just as passionate about animal welfare as she is baking and loved being able to combine the two to raise awareness of the incredible work that Brooke do. She spoke to Josh Peacock about the competition and about the Brooke charity.
Jane Holdernass-Roddam is this year celebrating 40 years since her win at Burghley. While reflecting on that win, Holderness-Roddam is also spreading word of the Brooke charity for whom she is a patron. She spoke to Josh Peacock about the Brooke and the fantastic work that they do to help and rehabilitate under-privileged horses, mules and donkeys.
After a thrilling day of Cross Country action at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, riders fought a combination of horrid weather conditions and Captain Mark Phillips’ incredible course. Josh Peacock caught up with the Course Designer after today’s action.
Christopher Burton jumped a wonderful clear round just outside the time and leads overall heading into Sunday’s showjumping finale with a score of 33.4. He spoke to Rupert Bell after the round.

Two time Burghley champion Blyth Tait has jumped clear in the cross country outside the time, finishing with a score of 64. He spoke to Rupert Bell after the round.
Five time champion Andrew Nicholson has moved into the lead with a brilliant clear round in the cross country that was outside the time – finishing with a score of 47.2. He spoke to Rupert Bell after the round.
Kristina Cook has jumped a clear round just outside the time in the cross country, finishing on a score of 64.9. She spoke to Rupert Bell after her round.
French rider Cedric Lyard has completed cross country with a clear round outside the time, finishing with a score of 59.6. He spoke to Josh Peacock after the round.

Ben Way has completed Cross Country at Burghley for the first time, incurring time and jump penalties to finish on 133.3 on board Galley Light.
