Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2017 – Captain Mark Phillips after Cross Country

Cross Country Course Designer Captain Mark Phillips was pleased with the way competition unfolded on Saturday, calling Tina Cook’s opening run “the ride of the day”.

Phillips spoke to Josh Peacock about a dramatic day that included a number of big name falls such as Mark Todd, Michael Jung and his daughter Zara Tindall.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2017 – Oliver Townend after Cross Country

Shropshire rider Oliver Townend has just stormed into the Cross Country lead on board Ballaghmor Class, jumping clear just one second outside the time to end the round on a score of 40.6.

Townend was the last competitor to tackle the course today having earlier completed on board Samuel Thomas II. He spoke to Rupert Bell.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2017 – Tim Price after second Cross Country

Kiwi rider Tim Price has completed Cross Country for the second time today, this time on board Ringwood Sky Boy, jumping clear but outside the time to end the round on a score of 46.5.

Price, who is fourth overall heading into the showjumping finale, spoke to Rupert Bell after the ride.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials 2017 – Tina Cook after Cross Country

Tina Cook has completed Cross Country on board Calvino II with a score 74. Cook was held for nearly 20 minutes on course late in the day but was left to wonder what might have been after a refusal penalty shortly after resuming.

Tina spoke to Rupert Bell after her round.
