British team rider Pippa Funnell has pledged her support for The Great British Horse Survey. The Leading international equine charity World Horse Welfare has today launched its Great British Horse Survey at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The charity is asking everyone with an interest in horses to take part, making it the biggest survey of its kind ever undertaken. The aim is to create the most complete picture of the equine community that has ever been held in Britain.

Roly Owers, Chief Executive of World Horse Welfare (WHW) said; The survey will enable us to gain an in-depth insight into the overall state and perceptions of horse welfare issues in the UK today. Ultimately it is about supporting our commitment to tackle the root causes of welfare abuse in the UK and to achieve this we need to galvanise everyone who has an interest in horses to complete this important survey.

World Horse Welfare Trustee Pippa Funnell was at the launch. I cant stress enough the amount of good work that World Horse Welfare do. But we have to continue to educate people I have been shocked at the images I have seen since being involved with WHW as there is still a huge amount of suffering in the horse population and there is absolutely no excuse for it. We have all got to keep our eyes open, said Pippa. I will be the first to back this survey which is a great chance for everyone to get involved.

Go online at to fill out the survey before November 30th 2010 and be entered into a draw to win a place on the 2011 Canadian Wilderness Challenge.
