Fiona Russell wins the - horse care award presented by Mrs Lucy Ward of Mountain Horse for looking after Vicky Brake's Looks Like Fun

FIONA GIVES THE BEST CARE

Fiona Russell the groom of Looks Like Fun (no. 2) was judged the winner of the Mountain Horse ‘best horse care’ award at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. Fiona a freelance groom from Winchester has groomed and looked after Looks Like Fun’s who is ridden by Wiltshire based rider Vicky Brake, for the last eight years. “I work for Vicky at all the three-day events,” says Fiona who describes herself as a career groom. Her tip for good grooming skills is ‘organisation’.

The runners-up prize was awarded to Tracey Garrett the groom of Barry’s Best (no 74) the ride of Rosie Thomas. Like Fiona Tracey is also a feeelance groom. “I usually groom for the Australian riders and groom for Rosie at Burghley and Badminton,” said Tracey who has been in her career 20 years. “There is no quick route – it’s just years of dedication.”
