Georgie Spence who rode Running Brook II won the under 25 award and first time British rider to complete receives her award from John Edwards MD of Land Rover UK
GEORGIE TAKES HOME A LORRY FULL OF PRIZES
Nineteen-year-old Georgie Spence went home with a lorry full of prizes from The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The Burghley ‘first-timer’ not only won the miniature of The Land Rover perpetual challenge trophy for being the highest placed competitor at their first Burghley but also a new saddle from the Worshipful Co of Saddlers for being the best ‘under 25’ to complete the cross country nearest the optimum time.
It was the second four-star event for the Wiltshire based combination of Running Brook and Georgie whose Mother Jo also won the Mountain Horse, Horse Care award for the best groom at the event.
“Of course I was nervous before I set off cross-country although the conditions didn’t worry me,” said Georgie a former member of The Beaufort Pony Club. “George was just awesome and just jumped like a stag all the way round and I was thrilled with his show jumping – to have just four down was fantastic as we all know his show jumping is normally horrendous.”
