William Fox-Pitt trots up Tamarillo at the final vet inspection

BUSINESS AS USUAL

Its business as usual this morning at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and the final horse inspection has just concluded. In addition to withdrawals before the inspection two horses did not pass the inspection and are withdrawn from the competition. Sadly for American rider Phillip Dutton, Woodburn (no. 35), in second place at the end of cross-country was withdrawn before the inspection.

Thirty horses go forward to the show jumping with the lowest placed six jumping this morning at 11.25hrs. The top 24 riders will jump this afternoon commencing at 14.25hrs. The final conclusion to this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials will shown on television; BBC 2 15.30 – 17.00hr, which will also feature highlights from yesterday’s cross-country.

• No. 3 – Ease On Fire (J Meyer-NZL)
• No. 10 – I’ve Been Dun (S Pemble-IRL)
• No. 17 – Mr Pracatan (D Jocelyn-NZL)
• No. 35 – Woodburn (P Dutton-USA)
• No. 72 – Holly Blue Curtis (R Lupton-GBR)

Horses withdrawn at the final horse inspection
• No. 31 – Just Appeal (S Wynne-Morris-GBR)
• No. 79 – Ashdale Cruise Master (E Gilruth-GBR)

Due to the difficult ground conditions the Concours d’Elegance has been cancelled however the donkey driving will take place and the Ponies UK Burghley Event Pony finals and SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Qualifier for HOYS is currently taking place in ring two.
