BRITISH BRONZE MEDALLISTS AT BURGHLEY
Those arriving at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials first thing on Thursday morning will have the bonus of seeing Olympic individual bronze medallists Kristina Cook and Miners Frolic in action – the pair will ride the dressage test in the main arena before the competition acting as the ‘guinea pig’ test ride for the judges. It will be a unique occasion as it will be the first time that a returning Olympic medallist has taken on the role that is usually given to a talented young rider. The guinea pig gives the judges a chance to get their ‘eye in’ on the test before the first of the competitors.
While it will be a first time in the main arena for Miners Frolic who has yet to compete in the four-star competition, he is no stranger to the event and is already a Burghley winner having won the five-year-old Burghley Young Event Horse Champion in 2003 with Kristina.
There will be another opportunity to see the pair on Sunday when they will be joined by the other members of the British Olympic bronze medal event team on Sunday for a parade – with their medals – in the main arena. The triumphant team of Mary King, William Fox-Pitt, Sharon Hunt, Daisy Dick and Kristina will be followed by the successful Derby House British Pony Team and the British Junior Team who won team silver and team gold medals at their respective Championships.
