Lynn Swift - Winner of the Mountain Horse Groom

Lynn Swift - Winner of the Mountain Horse Groom's prize

Lynn Swift, the groom of Nicola Wilson’s ride Opposition Buzz was the winner of the Mountain Horse ‘Horse Care’ prize - £200 and an outfit of Mountain Horse clothing and boots – at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The award was judged by Louise Bates MFH, who assessed the care of the horses over the four days of the event.

Lynn’s Yorkshire based job with Nicola, which she took four years ago, was her first in Eventing. “I ride the horses at home but I have no designs to go over fences especially ones this big,” said Lynn who was presented with her award at the Final Horse Inspection this morning.

Opposition Buzz a ten-year-old by the Trakehner sire Fleetwater Opposition is in 18th place after cross-country. “He is quite full of himself here but at home he is lovely to look after,” said Lynn whose top tip is to approach the job in an orderly manner. “It helps to be tidy and organised. And think ahead so you are not panicking.”

The runner up was Amy Vowles, the groom of Beanie Sturgis’ ride Monarch’s Rock.
