THE BURGHLEY YOUNG EVENT HORSE KICKS OFF WITH DUBARRY

Dubarry of Ireland has joined forces with The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials as the new supporter of its well established Young Event Horse series. The Galway based company, whose iconic leather boots are synonymous with stylish country attire, will be sponsoring the eighteen countrywide qualifiers and the finals (Friday September 4) which will now be known as the Burghley Dubarry Young Event Horse series.

Dubarry has been producing footwear since 1937 and their unique tradestand has been an integral part of the scene at Burghley for the past decade. The Young Event Horse qualifiers are a familiar feature of many shows during the summer. The classes for four and five-year-old potential event horses have proved a popular addition to the equestrian calendar since the inception of the competition at Burghley in 1987. As well as a pointer for the equestrian stars of the future it has also become a flagship for the breeding and production of event horses. Former winners include last year’s Olympic bronze medallist Miner’s Frolic, Burghley and Badminton winner Primmore’s Pride and well known event stallion Matinee.

“Just as our boots combine the best of tradition with the best of modern developments to produce a world-class product, so does the Burghley Dubarry Young Event Horse series and we are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious international competition,” said Michael Walsh Marketing Director. “We are delighted to welcome such a renowned name to join our sponsors at Burghley,” said Elizabeth Inman, Director of The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. “I am sure the partnership will produce an excellent fit.” A unique life size boot trophy in bronze has been specially commissioned for this event and will be presented to the Champions at Burghley Horse Trials on Friday September 4.

The first Burghley Dubarry Young Event Horse qualifier of 2009 takes place at Houghton International (Norfolk) on May 21. A full list of qualifiers for the series is available on The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials website.
