EQUESTRIAN SPORT HONOURS LADY VICTORIA LEATHAM
Lady Victoria Leatham, President of Burghley Horse Trials, has been awarded the Liz Dudden Memorial Trophy, at a lunch hosted by the British Equestrian Writers Association (BEWA) in London. The presentation of this award, which goes to an individual, other than a competitor, who has made a ‘major contribution to equestrian sport’ was made recently by Philip Dudden, at Olympia.
Having served as President of Burghley Horse Trials for 23 years until her retirement in 2006, Lady Victoria was an obvious choice for this award.
The trophy has been awarded since 1993, and previous noteable recipients have included former chief d’equipe of British show jumping Ronnie Masserella (1993); past Burghley Director Bill Henson (2003); and British Eventing Team Coach Yogi Breisner (2004).
Burghley Director Elizabeth Inman said; ‘We are delighted to see Lady Victoria honoured in such a way. Her contribution to the Event and the sport as a whole over the years has been immeasurable.”
Tickets for Burghley, 30 August – 2 September, will be available from May 1.
