The most prodigious series for talent spotting the future equestrian stars of eventing is about to make a rare appearance in the sponsorship market place. This follows the news that the existing sponsor, WINERGY®, is withdrawing after nine successful years of sponsoring the Burghley Young Event Horse competition.
The competition, with its series of 20 qualifiers hosted around the country and a national final on the second day of the world famous Burghley Horse Trials, is sponsored by WINERGY® until after this year's finals (Friday 8 September, 2006). For the last nine years the prestigious series and final have been recognised by both sides as being mutually beneficial.
Before the competition was devised there was no means of measuring the prospects of pre-competition sport horses in terms of outlook, movement and conformation. This successful series, running for twenty years, has seen through its rings the likes of William Fox-Pitt’s Tamarillo, Pippa Funnell’s Primmore’s Pride and Leslie Law’s Shear H20 to name but a few.
Elizabeth Inman, Director of Burghley Horse Trials said: “We are very grateful to WINERGY® for their sponsorship of the Burghley Young Event Horse Series. During this period we have seen equine stars continue to emerge from our nationwide qualifiers and there can surely be no finer testament to the success of this competition than its record. WINERGY® has been an excellent partner and we are now looking to build a new relationship with a company who, like WINERGY®, also recognises the immense marketing capacity of this nationwide series.”
