The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and British Eventing are working together to provide investment for Intermediate and Advanced level cross-country courses. Burghley, through British Eventing, acknowledges the need for investment into courses across the levels and is set to re-invest £100,000 in 2006 to help the events where Burghley’s potential competitors qualify. British Eventing will administer the fund to qualifying events.
Elizabeth Inman, Director of The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials commented; “As one of the top three day events in the world and the Event to which most competitors aspire to qualify, The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials recognises that there needs to be a progressive level of high quality qualifying competitions in order that horses and riders can reach this pinnacle in their career. For this reason we have decided to reinvest back into the sport at these qualifying competitions to help them maintain the high standards required to keep our horses and riders at the top of the international tree.”
Money will be allocated to events at the following levels:
| Advanced Events | up to £2,000 |
| CIC***/CCI*** (except BE owned events) | up to £1,500 |
| Intermediate Events | up to £1,000 |
| CIC**/CCI** (unless already supported by BE) | up to £1,000 |
The support is available once for each cross-country course. If an event runs over a course more than once in a year it would only be eligible for one grant. Applications will be made via the event’s Regional Director and are subject to approval of the planned investment.
