Lucy comes from an equestrian family; her father rode for Holland and Great Britain and both parents have been involved in producing and selling event horses for over 25 years.

Lucy, who now runs a busy eventing and livery yard, Acquila Equestrian, near Beaworthy in Devon, had success at Junior and Young Rider level and is the only rider to have won a national championship at three levels of competition; Junior (1995) Young Rider (1998) and in 2006 she won the British Open Championship at Gatcombe. Last year she was ranked eighth in the BE rider rankings.

After second place with Shaabrak at Badminton in 2008 Lucy was set to make her senior team debut for the Olympic Games but was forced to withdraw after injury to Shaabrak. In 2009 she rode as an individual for GB at the European Championships finishing in 13th place.

Lucy has a degree in English from Exeter University and had a sabbatical year working as a journalist for Horse &Hound and is a regular contributor to newspapers and magazines such the Western Morning News. Lucy can play the cello and the piano and enjoys gardening.

Woodfall Inigo Jones came to the yard as a five-year-old. He is by the AES stallion Dex who is by the Dutch-bred, British based jumping stallion Ulster.

Shaabrak, who Lucy describes as ‘high-maintenance’ is by the Thoroughbred Shaab who is also the grand sire of Burghley entry Uptons Who.
