British based New Zealander Neil relocated to the UK in 2001 and run a livery, training and teaching yard based outside Swindon.

Neil made his Badminton debut in 2002 with Deveron and three years later completed on his next visit with Haka, a former ride of fellow New Zealander and former Burghley winner Blyth Tait.

Neil is married to Pippa, a qualified ‘Master Saddler’ and the couple has two children, Maisy and Chester.

Upleadon, with whom he won Bramham in 2009 is by the British advanced event stallion Welton Crackerjack out of a mare by Master Spiritus. He was bred in Gloucestershire by Audrey Brewer and produced by her daughter, Tor.
