Spurred on by a visit to the WEG in Stockholm, some 20 years ago, Australian rider and journalist Hamish started riding when he was seven.
Sandhills Tiger was purchased from Australian High Performance manager Prue Barrett as a one-star horse in 2002. Hamish is trained by Christopher Burton and is also helped by his partner, Annabel Armstrong, who events at three-star level. While he is in the UK Hamish is based with Sam and Lucy Griffiths in Dorset.
Hamish has degrees in law and journalism and although he evented professionally after completing university, two years ago he decided to take a break from full-time competition to venture into broadcast journalism. He started doing daily snow reports from ski resorts in New South Wales for radio and television and has since transferred his broadcast skills to eventing.
